Brief Project Description:
The project involves the construction of 27 concrete earth-covered igloos with blast-resistant foundations, floors, walls, and ceilings, including blast doors, ventilation, electrical power and lighting, fire detection, intrusion detection, grounding, and lightning protection systems. Work also includes construction of a munition’s maintenance administration facility with a concrete foundation, slab, and metal stud wall with brick veneer exterior, as well as an addition of one bay to the existing Munitions Maintenance Shop. The shop addition will feature a blast-resistant concrete structure, standing seam metal roof, HVAC and plumbing systems, fire detection and suppression systems, electrical and lighting systems, communications, security systems, lightning protection, and a compressed air system.
Site work includes new pavement, utility connections, demolition of four existing facilities totaling 2,839 SM, environmental remediation, installation of fire mains, fiber optic communications duct banks, new security fencing, replacement fencing, and 2-foot-high earth berms over the igloos. All work will comply with Department of Defense antiterrorism and force protection requirements per Unified Facilities Criteria and will include all necessary site support and incidental related work.
