Brief Project Description:
The work includes a full renovation of Building 130, a three-story “L” shaped dormitory currently unoccupied, to bring it up to contemporary facility standards. Major repairs include demolition of selected interior partitions, finishes, furnishings, and equipment, along with the replacement of roofing, exterior windows, and installation of energy-efficient systems. The project involves new construction of interior partitions, new finishes throughout, and upgrades to the structural elements such as CMU walls, degraded structural members, walkway overhangs, railings, stair towers, sidewalks, exterior lighting, landscaping, and force protection features.
All building systems will be comprehensively replaced or upgraded, including HVAC, fire alarm and suppression, plumbing, electrical power and distribution, lighting, grounding, and telecommunications systems. The renovation also integrates user-focused design improvements: each dorm room will include counter space for a microwave and an undercounter refrigerator, the first-floor dayroom will be converted into an ADL office, and second- and third-floor dayrooms will feature large kitchens with islands, multiple seating areas, and entertainment options.
