Repair Fuel Cell Building 27, Massachusetts Air National Guard - Barnes, Westfield, MA


Brief Project Description:

The work consists of the complete renovation of the Corrosion Control Hangar, Fuel Hangar, and the connector area between the two facilities. The project includes extensive alterations to Building 27, upgrades to the connector area with new decontamination areas, break rooms, offices, restrooms, and support spaces, and major renovations to the Corrosion Control Hangar with an enlarged paint bay, open sanding room, cabinet sanding spaces, and the relocation of the electrical room.

Work also includes modernization of the electrical system with a new electrical service, replacement of panels, and upgraded lighting, as well as renovations to the Fuel Cell Hangar by enlarging the AFFF area and modifying existing systems. Additional tasks involve hazardous materials abatement for heavy metals such as lead, chromium, and cadmium, and site work including the installation of a new water line, underground electrical conduit, and exterior concrete pads.
