Brief Project Description:

This is a Design Build Project: The intention of this project is to remove eight (8) buildings from PSNY existing central steam system while keeping the steam system in operation to serve all buildings which are to remain on the central system. This project will provide alternative heating and domestic hot water systems for the buildings removed from the central steam system. The components found within the Scope of Work for this project include the demolition of steam heating equipment and the addition of natural gas or oil fired heating equipment.

Work in the buildings includes the following:

Installation of high-efficiency, natural gas-fired hot water condensing boiler systems in existing mechanical rooms, additions or new standalone structures.

Installation of gas-fired domestic water heater systems in existing mechanical rooms, additions or new standalone structures.

Conversion of these facilities to hot water heating systems will require the installation of all equipment necessary for a completely operational facility. This equipment shall include: hot water, gas, domestic water and other piping, pumps, storage tanks, DOC controls, insulation, hangers and electric power and lighting.

Work shall include demolition of steam service equipment including piping, valves, heat exchangers, and tanks and blanking off existing steam at valves in pits.
