Whole Center Repairs, Naval Operations Support Center, Rochester, NY


Brief Project Description:

The base bid involved the renovation of an approximately 37,350 square foot Naval Operations Support Center (NOSC) in Rochester, New York. The facility was originally constructed around 1974. The general scope of work Included site improvements to include paving, fencing, utilities, site Lighting and pre manufactured gatehouse; selective demolition, roofing, Exterior sealants, exterior doors, steel framing, interior partitions, doors and hardware, restroom renovations, new floor /wall/ceiling finishes, Plumbing fixtures and systems, HVAC systems, electrical service power and Lighting, fire alarm and fire protection systems and hazardous materials Abatement.

An option of a Design and Supply Furniture & Equipment package was awarded also which included providing furniture and equipment for the interior space. Benaka Inc. worked alongside an Architect local to Rochester to put this FF & E package together.

This entire work having been performed in an occupied facility necessitated a phased approach to the schedule. The project was broken down into 3 phases, 2 phases in the first floor and one phase on the second floor. Work was performed well within the specified project duration. Benaka Inc. worked with the Navy to coordinate all activities as per the requirements of the occupied tenants. Daily cleanups, and temporary protection measures were followed to keep the premises clean & Navy was notified 14 days prior to any disconnects so as to cause the least disruption to their activities.
